MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said that for his late father to truly rest in peace, he must continue the work that his father, Ferdinand Marcos Sr., started.
In a speech following a Mass before his father’s grave at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City on All Saints’ Day, Marcos said it won’t be enough to just wish rest in peace for his dad.
Article continues after this advertisement“You know when we have a dead person, ‘RIP’ — rest in peace — is placed there. Of course, that’s what we want for my father. But it’s not enough to just say rest in peace,” the president said in mixed Filipino and English.

Article continues after this advertisementOn September 28, 1989, Marcos Sr. died in Hawaii, where he was exiled after being overthrown from Malacañang by Filipinos via the Edsa People Power Revolution.
He was buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in November 2016.
